Addressing California's Flavored Tobacco Ban: Community Forum

On March 14th, 2023, the LYL Coalition hosted a community forum in collaboration with Neighborhood Wellness Foundation (NWF)  to foster discussion about California's Flavored Tobacco Ban (SB 793). The event encouraged community members to express their thoughts and spark a meaningful discussion centered around lung health, tobacco, policy, and more. It also allowed the LYL Coalition to build meaningful relationships with community members.

To the right of him you see a projector screen is set up and is displaying a flyer that says 'California just uit flavored tobacco. A new California law makes it illegal to sell most flaovred tobacco, including vapes and menthol cigarettes, protecting our kids from a lifetime of deadly addition.' There is some additional smaller text and logos below it that is not fully legible at this image size.

LUNGAPALOOZA: A Festival For Lung Health

On October 1st, 2022,“Lungapalooza” was held in-person for the first time since the onset of the pandemic.  The event spread awareness about the importance of lung health in the Greater Sacramento community; educated our community about lung health, tobacco and vaping, lung cancer screenings, and racial disparities in lung cancer; and brought health experts and community members together through impactful engagement. Through this year’s first ever in-person event, attendees had access to a wealth of information with representatives and guest speakers from various health systems and community-based organizations.
