A Free Lung Cancer Pre-Screening Event

In honor of November being lung cancer awareness month, on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 4:00-7:00PM, the LYL Coalition hosted a free lung cancer pre-screening event in collaboration with and located at City Church of Sacramento in the Oak Park community (3860 4th Ave, Sacramento CA, 95817). The event provided an array of local resources to community members so that they feel equipped and empowered to ask their healthcare provider about getting screened for lung cancer. Topic areas and resources included: tobacco education and cessation, health insurance, and more.

On March 14th, 2023, the LYL Coalition hosted a community forum in collaboration with Neighborhood Wellness Foundation (NWF) to foster discussion about California's Flavored Tobacco Ban (SB 793). The event encouraged community members to express their thoughts and spark a meaningful discussion centered around lung health, tobacco, policy, and more. It also allowed the LYL Coalition to build meaningful relationships with community members.

LUNGAPALOOZA: Un Festival por la Salud Pulmonar

El 1 de octubre de 2022, “Lungapalooza” se llevó a cabo en persona por primera vez desde el inicio de la pandemia.  El evento generó conciencia sobre la importancia de la salud pulmonar en la comunidad del Gran Sacramento; educó a nuestra comunidad sobre la salud pulmonar, el tabaco y el vapeo, las pruebas de detección de cáncer de pulmón y las disparidades raciales en el cáncer de pulmón; y reunió a expertos en salud y miembros de la comunidad a través de un compromiso impactante. A través del primer evento en persona de este año, los asistentes tuvieron acceso a una gran cantidad de información con representantes y oradores invitados de varios sistemas de salud y organizaciones comunitarias.

Un evento de la comunidad virtual

El 5 de noviembre de 2020, la Sacramento Lung Health Coalition organizó el evento Love Your Lungs para difundir la conciencia sobre la salud pulmonar y dar inicio al mes de concientización sobre el cáncer de pulmón.

Discutimos algunos de los temas de salud pulmonar más apremiantes de la actualidad, incluidos COVID-19, tabaco y vapeo, exámenes de detección de cáncer de pulmón y cómo el racismo y el trauma afectan los resultados de salud. Nuestros socios comunitarios compartieron qué recursos locales están disponibles en nuestra comunidad del Gran Sacramento.
